For this review I am going to cover Blu Electronic Cigarettes. From the offset it looks really nice so let’s crack this open and get right to it.
Here’s what comes in the Blu ecig starter kit
*1 ecig pack that can plug in via usb and acts as a carrying case
*2 batteries (atomizer attached)
*25 carts! (can select the flavors)
*1 wall charger
*1 USB charger
Here’s what I liked:
With this kit you certainly get a ton of stuff! The inclusion of the USB charger is awesome and of course 25 carts included are GREAT. That’s the equal of 25 packs of regular cigarettes. The pack acts as a carrying case and a charger. It can be plugged in as a unit and charged while still in the pack. The pack will hold 5 carts and 2 batteries for you.
I also liked the ability to select the additional carts you get. I ordered a variety sampler including Vivid Vanilla, Menthol, Classic Tobacco, Java Jolt and Cherry Crush. Out of those flavors the best tasting one was the Java Jolt as it had a more traditional cigarette taste and mouth after taste. The draw and the amount of vapor released on each exhale was pretty good. It gave off less vapor than the Green Smoke model though (shame). The price point for this unit was decent as well at only $79.99.
Here’s what I didn’t like
Unfortunately, Blu fails to deliver after the “wow” factor of it’s impressive amount of product you get with the kit. The biggest annoyance I discovered was this unit crackles and pops a lot! So imagine taking a drag off the unit and you here a bunch of crackles and pops. The first time it happened it was loud and I thought something exploded in the ecig. I also thought maybe it was a one time thing. However, on several occasions I’ve experienced this and it can startle you and it is very annoying.
The next thing I noticed was that the eliquid in the carts seems to burn faster than the other brands. Therefore, the 25 carts aren’t as impressive as first believed. The flavor of the carts is also suspect. While I loved the Java Jolt cart, I was not impressed with the other carts at all. The menthol cart was OK and not nearly as tasty as some of the other top brands.
I also felt like the battery life was not even close to the Green Smoke model. I really didn’t puff it all that much and had to recharge it twice in 2 days.
Overall:
C+ - I wanted to like this model more than I rated it. It looks fantastic on first open but fails to deliver on what at first looked amazing. The Blu is just average in the ecig world and falls way short of the awesomeness of the Green Smoke Model. The ecig unit itself didn’t feel cheaply made but, the crackling and constant popping of the unit was annoying. I thought the Green Smoke and Luci units were much better crafted than the Blu and recommend both of them over the Blu. Do not be fooled by what looks like you’ll get a ton of stuff – it’s the quality that is the concern. I will buy a new kit from Blu in a few months and update the review if they’ve fixed these problems. Read the Green Smoke review here. Read the Luci review here.
